Mission

Mighty Sparrow Edits brings a blend of academic rigor and creative sensitivity to your work—whether you’re refining an article, revising a manuscript, or shaping the structure of a new project. I offer thoughtful, personalized guidance designed to help your writing land with clarity and impact. Every step of the process honors your authentic voice.
A note for fellow neurodivergent creatives:
As someone with ADHD, I know that creativity doesn’t always follow straight lines or conventional timelines. If you’re neurodivergent, we’ll build a process that honors how your mind moves, how your ideas spark, and how your executive functioning works on its own rhythm. Your voice deserves collaborative support that meets you where you are.

Why the sparrow?
The sparrow is a notoriously underestimated bird. Small, neutral in color, and quietly present, it has long been associated with what Thomas Hardy called “meek inconsequence"—a cultural shorthand for poverty, humility, and insignificance. Sparrows rarely command the spotlight; they live in the periphery, easy to overlook in a world dazzled by brighter plumage and louder calls.

But what they lack in wingspan, sparrows make up for in moxie.

A sparrow is a survivalist: resourceful, adaptive, and fiercely loyal to its community. In the face of adversity, it responds with strategy, resilience, and strength—especially when supported by the collective force of the flock.

Mighty Sparrow Edits was founded with that spirit in mind.

Today’s writers no longer need a towering publishing house to share their work with the world, but that accessibility comes with its own challenges. In a landscape overflowing with voices—many amplified by financial, circumstantial, or societal privilege—it’s easy to feel like a lone sparrow living in the shadow of eagles.
My mission is to help your voice be heard, no matter where you’re starting from. Because every story matters—especially yours.
About Me
Hi, friends! I’m Casey McGrath—a published writer, professional violinist, and editor with an Editing Certificate from the University of Chicago. I also hold a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Illinois, along with additional music degrees from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and Butler University.

By day, I’m a violinist—but when I’m not onstage, I’m writing. I’m the first author of a research-based book for musicians (Rowman & Littlefield, 2016; expanded edition coming from Bloomsbury Publishing in 2026), the author of two poetry chapbooks, and a contributor to Blue Skies and Parachutist—a fun chapter of my life that included earning my solo skydiving licenses. My short fiction and poetry have appeared in journals such as Manuscripts and Windows Fine Arts Magazine, and I’m currently working on my first memoir, A Technicolor Ordinary.

I spent more than a decade as an adjunct college professor, where one of my greatest joys was helping students find clarity and confidence in their writing—and that same passion now guides my work as an editor. I love helping writers strengthen their voice, refine their ideas, and create work that feels fully and unmistakably their own.
